Kitik Jewelry: A Star is Born

Working in jewelry and fashion, I’ve seen dozens upon dozens of pretty things. I’m all for fresh and interesting takes on both traditional and modern jewels, but I’ve rarely been captivated by jewelry as much as I have been with Kitik Jewelry, as well as with the woman behind the brand, jewelry designer Cristina Amador.

A fellow Ecuadorian, Cristina had reached out to me a few times, and I must admit I was resistant at first. I was working with a few other collections, and I had just started traveling and sourcing for The Curated Look. I was pretty busy (and perhaps temporarily insane). Thankfully, she did not give up on me, and I finally met a charming, 9-month pregnant Cristina here in my West Palm Beach showroom. We clicked instantly, and the rest is Curated history.

As soon as I saw Kitik's pieces, I knew they would be a success. Their lightweight design was simply gorgeous, and I could not help but fall in love with both their identity and how Kitik operated. With their pieces being ethically sourced and handmade by artisans in Ecuador, I immediately knew I wanted to support this emerging brand. Here’s a little bit of their story.

Jewelry designer Cristina Amador (who designs every piece of Kitik Jewelry) was visiting a jeweler community in Ecuador and was enchanted and inspired by the craftsmanship of the artisans. She soon discovered, though, that many of those same artisans were being severely underpaid and taken advantage of by the jewelry shops they did business through. Cristina decided to take action, and Kitik Jewelry was born.

With a focus on design and craftsmanship, Cristina’s designs are not only beautiful and fashion forward, they also help preserve cultural techniques through their use of the traditional style of filigree. All the pieces created and sold through Kitik Jewelry are made with sterling, fine silver, and 24k gold plating. Every purchase of these products helps those same artisans get the fair wages they deserve. Beautiful and beneficial indeed.

Kitik’s latest collection draws inspiration on Ecuadorian nature fused with pre-Hispanic symbols. From delicate lace-style rings, to flashy statement earrings, and so much more in between, it’s hard not to find something you’ll love right away.

A favorite of bloggers and fashionistas, you will find Kitik statement pieces being worn by fashion and style experts such as Stephanie Hill of personal style blog The Style Bungalow, Andrea Chediak, host of Despierta America, and Allegra Fanjul of jewelry and style blog Very Allegra.

As I enter my third season working with Kitik Jewelry and Cristina, I couldn’t be happier to share such beautiful jewelry with my clients. I am also proud to be able to support my fellow Ecuadorians as they preserve their craft. During a recent trip to Newport, I was overwhelmed at how clients and friends fell in love with this Latin brand and appreciated the design and craftsmanship just as much as I do.

Stay tuned for more trunk show details and a very special collaboration coming soon, and feel free to contact me if you would like to have a Curated trunk show of your own. If you have any additional questions, or would like to order any pieces please email and together we can select the right piece for you.

Besos, Gaby
